How can the software be installed from the Plugin Smithy Software update site after a purchase or after an evaluation request?

After a purchase or after an evaluation request you will receive an email with information on how to download the binaries for the licensed software respectively for the evaluation software.

This email contains an URL for the Eclipse update site on the Plugin Smithy Software website that was specifically created for you. The update site contains individualized binaries of the licensed products respectively of the evaluation products.

For installing, open the "Help" pulldown menu in Eclipse, then select "Software Updates", "Find and Install...". In the wizard that opens chose "Search for new features to install" and click "Next". In the "Updates site to visit" step click on the "New Remote Site..." button. In the dialog that opens, enter for example "Plugin Smithy Software" in the "Name" field, and paste the URL into the "URL" field. After clicking "OK" the new update site will appear in the "Sites to include in search:" list, and you can install the licensed products.

Starting with Eclipse 3.4 (Eclipse Ganymede) the plugin installation process looks slightly different. In the "Help" pulldown menu select "Software Updates...". In the "Software Updates and Add-ons" dialog box that opens go to the "Available Software" tab and click the "Add Site..." button. In the "Add Site" dialog enter the URL from the email notification into the "Location" text field. After that the update site appears in the list on the "Available Software" tab. Mark the checkbox in front of the www.pluginsmithy.com update site URL and push the "Install..." button to install the plugin.

The email also contains an URL for downloading a JAR file, which contains the separate JAR files to build a company-internal Eclipse update site. This file should be downloaded and archived in any case, as there is no guarantee provided for the ongoing availability of the customer-specific Eclipse update site on the Plugin Smithy Software website by Plugin Smithy Software.

How can I install the fully functional version of a product, if an evaluation version of the product was installed before?

To install the fully functional version of a product after licenses have been purchased, and if an evaluation version of the product has been installed before, the evaluation version must be deinstalled. In Eclipse open the pulldown menu "Help", then select "Software Updates", "Manage Configuration". In the "Product Configuration" dialog that opens you can deinstall the evaluation version. After a restart of Eclipse you can install the fully functional version from the Eclipse update site.
